LOVE was in the air at Lyle Kirk during a special ‘messy church’ session held to celebrate St Valentine’s Day.
Little sweethearts got busy making special cards for their loved ones.
The latest of the regular family get-togethers with a bible theme looked at love, friendship and being kind.
Around 35 parents and children attended and enjoyed a sing-song, crafts, and a bible quiz.
Pam Stewart, youth organiser, said: “We focus quite a lot on crafts because that’s what the children enjoy.
“The sessions are very popular because it’s family orientated and a nice family atmosphere.
“We looked at the main part of love in the bible, which is that God loved the world so much he gave his only son.” Pam says messy church offers an important alternative to traditional worship.
It also gives mums and dads a chance to catch up with each other and chat over activities and lunch.
She said: “People don’t find it as strict as as going to church on a Sunday morning.
“It’s a relaxed atmosphere and people of all ages get involved.” The next Messy Church session is on Saturday 28 February between 11 and 1pm.
Creche facilities will be available for younger children.
