THE Senit Foundation continued its 10th anniversary donations by helping to get another bus on the road for an Inverclyde charity.

Inverclyde Voluntary Council of Social Service operate 22 buses transporting the elderly and people with special needs.

Transport convener Callum Boyd said they were very grateful to Senit for donating £500 towards the running cost of their latest bus.

The Voluntary Council has been on the go for 30 years and has 34 volunteers, including drivers and escorts.

Mr Boyd said: “We are always looking for drivers who can help, especially during holiday periods when some of our regular volunteers might be off.” Senit has provided almost £200,000 to worthy causes across Inverclyde and the west of Scotland.

Launched by Gerry Deeney of Port Glasgow, the foundation has worked tirelessly to raise money for those who need support across many projects.

Following Gerry’s death in January last year, his daughter, Aileen Gorman and other committee members vowed to carry on his work.

Aileen said: “As a result of the fundraising activity over the past few years, we now have more than £12,000 in our funding pot, and we’re looking for applications from individuals or organisations who feel they need a helping hand.” Anyone who would like to make an application to Senit, or wants to offer to organise a fundraising initiative, should call 723051, visit www.senitfoundation.co.uk or email contact@senitfoundation.co.uk Anyone who would like to help out at the Voluntary Council should call its office on 791939 or Callum Boyd on 07929 153421.
