A SCHOOL bus on its way to pick up primary pupils came off the road in Greenock’s west end yesterday as heavy blizzards caused travel chaos.

The bus had been on its way to collect children going to Ardgowan Primary, which is currently decanted at the old Sacred Heart building in Westmorland Road.

But it slid and went into a verge and onto the pavement on Fox Street, pictured, just before 9am.

An Inverclyde Council spokesman said: “A service bus on the way to pick up some pupils slid yesterday morning on the road.

“As soon as our education service was alerted that the bus was out of order, a replacement was arranged immediately.

“No pupils were on the bus at the time.”
