PARENTS in Greenock rolled up their sleeves and headed back to the classroom to take part in a fun-filled Easter craft day.

Gibshill Children’s Centre was a hive of activity as mums, dads and grandparents joined a special event at the Smillie Street nursery.

Relatives of almost 90 youngsters turned out to help make colourful cards, beautiful bonnets and egg-cellent eggs in preparation for Easter.

The Tele was there to catch a glimpse of some of the cracking creations made by the children and adults.

Gibshill depute head of centre, Craig Scott, said: “There was a mixture of parents, grandparents and even some aunts and uncles as well.

“The spirit on the day from them all was absolutely fantastic and we had a really good turnout.

“There was lots going on and everyone had the chance to make cards, paint eggs and make Easter bonnets, which will be used in our parade today.

“Everybody had a great time.” The event is one of many organised by the nursery to encourage parents to get involved in their children’s learning.

The Easter craft day again impressed the adults who went along — with many having more fun than the youngsters.

Mr Scott said: “We have had great support from the parents this year and it was great to have another opportunity to have them in and see what the children were doing.

“There was also lots of learning throughout, especially on the creative side, and it’s good for parents to get involved.” See today's Tele for full pictures.
