CONSCIENTIOUS Inverclyde teens proved they are the entrepreneurs of the future after winning a string of top awards.

Hard working fifth and sixth year pupils from Inverclyde Academy, Port Glasgow and Notre Dame High schools picked up five enterprise awards at the regional finals of the Young Enterprise Renfrewshire Area Company Programme.

Throughout the initiative, pupils were tasked with developing and running a real business in a safe but competitive environment.

Hard work and determination paid off for Port Glasgow pupils who won the ‘Innovation Award’ and ‘Best Company in Inverclyde’ title as well as being runners up in ‘Best Report/Interview’ competition.

Also proving their business credentials were youngsters from Inverclyde Academy, who were named runners up in the ‘Best Display Stand’ category.

Notre Dame pupils were runners up in the ‘Best Presentation’ award.

Councillor Terry Loughran says the youngsters are bound to be business stars of the future.

He said: “Well done to all of our young people for their tremendous achievements.

“The valuable skills they are learning will stand them in good stead to become the entrepreneurs of the future. “I would also like to thank the many people volunteering their valuable time to deliver this excellent programme for all their hard work.”
