A MAN was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted in Greenock this morning.
The 48-year-old was attacked by three men in a flat close in Nile Street just before 5am on Saturday morning.
He was rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital where he received stitches to a wound before later being sent home.
Detective Constable Lynn McTaggart, of Greenock CID, is urging anyone with information to contact the police.
She said: “At about 4.45am on Saturday morning, a 48-year-old man was seriously assaulted within a common close in Nile Street.
“He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital where he received some sutures before being released.
“We are looking for three suspects, all male, who were wearing dark clothing.” Anyone with information is asked to phone Greenock CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
