A FAMOUS Greenock school is reaching the end of the road — after demolition crews restarted demolition work at the former Greenock Academy.
The central section of the old building — which was also home to BBC TV drama Waterloo Road from 2012 to 2014 — was razed to the ground yesterday.
As it was torn down, a stunning view opened up of the River Clyde and the hills beyond.
Site owners Inverclyde Council are expected to sell the prime west end land for housing once it has been fully cleared.
The Academy closed in 2011 when the school merged with Gourock High to form Clydeview Academy.
The Madeira Street building was home to the Academy for more than 50 years.
