THE hunt is back on to find Inverclyde’s most adorable animals as we launch Pets Factor 2015.

If you have Inverclyde’s cutest canine or the district’s most magnificent moggy then you could soon be £500 richer.

Our winning pet and owner will take home the jackpot prize, while there are also goodies up for grabs from our main competition sponsor Abbey Veterinary Group in Murdieston Street.

Our top three entries will also have a professional, framed photograph to treasure, taken by top Tele photographer George Munro.

Since launching in 2013, the competition has proved one of the paper’s most popular ever contests — attracting over 25,000 votes.

This year there will be no separate categories for cats, dogs and other animals, meaning every pet will have a fighting chance to win the public’s vote.

Sponsor Neil McIntosh of Abbey Vets, inset, said: “We are delighted to again be supporting this competition. We have been in the local community for a long time so it’s nice to be involved, and as a Tele columnist I have had great feedback from people coming into the surgery.

“I’m sure, as always, there will be piles of great entries. It is also great to see some of the animals in the Tele that we regularly get here in the practice, especially those pets which have been unwell and have made a full recovery.” Tele editor Brian Hossack said: “Pets Factor seems to have really captured the public’s imagination and we are delighted to be bringing it back again this year.

“As our Justice for Pets campaign has proved, everyone loves their animals, so we can’t wait to see all the pets and be able to showcase them in the paper.

“A huge thanks also to Neil and the team at Abbey Vets for putting up a great prize again.” Loveable Lhasa Apso Alfie captured the hearts of our readers to became top dog last year — and went walkies with the £500 prize.

He fought off competition from more than 150 other picturesque pets to win with a staggering 1,156 votes.

To put your pet forward for this year’s prize, simply post or hand a favourite snap of them into our office in Crawfurd Street.

Include your name, the animal’s name and a daytime contact number. Alternatively, email your pet’s picture, along with all of the above details, to pets@greenocktelegraph.co.uk or editorial@greenocktelegraph.co.uk or post it with all contact details included on our Facebook page.

Closing date for entries is 27 July, after which we will publish all of the animals’ photos.

Readers will then have their chance to decide the winner of Pets Factor 2015.

Keep an eye on the Telegraph, our website and our Facebook page for regular updates.

Good luck!
