POLICE surrounded and sealed off the entrance to Greenock Cemetery last night as they dealt with a serious incident.
A cordon was put up at the entrance on South Street after a man was found injured within the grounds.
Police Scotland said that they had received reports of a man injured within the cemetery.
They attended at the scene, located the man and he was subsequently taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital in an ambulance.
Police Scotland have not released any information about the man's condition.
The 's alert was sparked at around 8pm.
Numerous police officers and vehicles rushed to the scene.
The police operation also involved the force helicopter and the dog branch.
An onlooker at the scene said: "The place is crawling with police. It looks like something pretty serious."
