TWO twins from a Greenock school have proved themselves a class act after they both achieved eight straight As in their exams.

Matthew and Scott Tinney from Inverkip recorded identical grades in their National 5 papers.

The super smart duo, who attend Inverclyde Academy, were over-the-moon to achieve the same remarkable results.

Their mum Eleanor was beaming with pride when she discovered her boys had gained As in maths, English, French, physics, chemistry, music and computing.

The only difference in their results was that Scott got an A for modern studies while Matthew got an A for art.

She said: “They have both done really well, I’m so proud of them.

“Their personalities are totally different — they are like chalk and cheese but they are both clever.” Eleanor says it was very tense time on the morning of the exam results.

She said: “It was very stressful as Scott got an email with his results at about 1.30am but Matthew didn’t get one.

“Eventually at 9am in the morning Matthew got his results through text message.” The 16-year-olds, who live with their mum, dad Paul and younger brother Ryan, 13, in Findhorn Crescent, are now gearing up for their Higher exams next year and will return to school today.

Eleanor added: “They are both doing five Highers in the same subjects, apart from one.

“So I’ve got another double dose of exam result stress next year!”
