AN east end resident has hit out at irresponsible dog owners for allowing pets to foul in a back court.

George McMaster, pictured, says he is fed up with dog dirt being left behind his close in John Wilson Street.

The 63-year-old says complaints were made to landlord River Clyde Homes, who put signs up.

But the culprit has been ignoring the warnings and refusing to clean up after their pet.

He said: “I’ve been recording when the dog has been in the back garden since then. It’s still happening and nothing is getting done about it.” Mr McMaster is exasperated that signs are being disregarded and has contacted MSP Stuart McMillan regarding the issue. Bosses at River Clyde Homes say they have taken steps to address the problem in conjunction with the council — and they believe it has now been resolved satisfactorily. Russell Smith, ‘Cleaner Greener’ manager at RCH, said: “There had been complaints of dog fouling in the back courts of 10 John Wilson Street and by working in partnership with Inverclyde Council’s enforcement team the issue appears to have been resolved.

“We stencilled the back green area with no dog fouling signs, and put up ‘no dog fouling’ posters on the doors.

“Council officers and RCH officers have been actively monitoring the situation.

“River Clyde Homes has written to the dog owners in the building and it has been agreed that no dogs should be allowed in the back gardens.”
