IT’S Kreme de la Krispy Kreme for doughnut fans in Inverclyde as the sweet treats taking the nation by storm are coming to the area.
Shoppers will be licking their lips after the doughnut giant confirmed it will open a stand at the Tesco Extra store in Port Glasgow on October 11.
Russell Houston, pictured, who is the manager at Port Glasgow Tesco, says it’s a good addition for the store. He added: “Krispy Kreme is a great name and a great brand.
“There is going to be a promotional area next to the sandwich/snack area so people can see them when they immediately come in. The doughnuts are going to be freshly delivered every day from the factory in Braehead.”
Russell says he expects people to travel from far and wide to sample the sugary treats.
He said: “We will have people travelling from Helensburgh, Dunoon and all over to come here because we are the first port of call after the Erskine Bridge.
“Krispy Kreme will complement the retail park on top of all the other units opening up.”
Bosses at the supermarket successfully trialled the sale of Krispy Kreme products and carried out a survey in their bid to become the first place in Inverclyde to sell the US firm’s famous glazed doughnuts.
And the Greenock Tesco Extra store will get a Krispy Kreme stand too.
Judith Denby, who is the marketing director at Krispy Kreme, said: “We’re thrilled to open up cabinets in Port Glasgow and Greenock.”
