A PORT Glasgow man was left with a broken jaw after he was robbed and brutally attacked by three thugs outside his own house.

The 56-year-old was taking a break from cutting his grass in Moray Road when he was surrounded by the male teens.

He was sitting next to a cycle lane with his neighbour when they  approached him and asked for a cigarette.

They then punched and kicked him in the face before running off with a bottle of cider belonging to their victim.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff, of Greenock CID, said: “He was cutting his grass and decided to take a break and was sitting talking to a neighbour next to a cycle path.

“Three youths approached and asked for a cigarette.

“When he declined they went to grab his bottle of cider. He tried to stop them and then the complainer was punched and kicked to the face.

“He was taken to the hospital and has a broken jaw.”

The robbery by the gang, in their late teens, took place last Friday at around 6pm.

The first attacker was wearing a light blue top, the second was wearing a dark blue top and bottoms.

The third teen who was not directly involved in the violence was wearing a navy coloured hooded top.

The 56-year-old is still being treated in Inverclyde Royal Hospital.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to help catch those responsible.
