IT was ‘hair today gone tomorrow’ for a Port teenager as she had ALL of her hair shaved off for charity.

Nicole Mason lost 26 inches of lovely locks when she had a ‘number one’ headshave at the weekend.

The 15-year-old, who attends Port Glasgow High School, says the heartbreak she experienced when she lost her nana Ann Miller to bone marrow cancer four years ago is the motivation behind her challenge.

She will donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust — a charity that makes wigs and hairpieces for children who are having cancer treatment.

Nicole, of Marloch Avenue, told the Tele: “I was really nervous beforehand.

“When I got to the hairdressers they put six plaits in my hair.

“My mum cut off the first plait then the hairdressers cut off the others before shaving the rest of my hair off.

“My mum and my friend Abby Brown were both crying but I was laughing.

“I felt really happy as I’m helping children who have lost their hair through chemotherapy.”

Nicole says that her friends and teachers have been very supportive of her ‘hair-oic’ challenge.

She said: “All my friends at school say that I really suit it.

“Thanks to all the support, I’ve managed to raise just over £1,000 so I’m delighted.”

Nicole’s mum Ann says she’s overwhelmed that her daughter would go to such lengths to help young children going through cancer.

She said: “I feel so proud of her.

“Nicole has been wanting to do this since her nana died.

“She was a big part of Nicole’s life.”

Nicole is keen to thank Service Hair and Beauty Salon in Dubbs Road in Port Glasgow.
