THE family of a popular ‘Port legend’ are holding a testimonial football match in his memory.

Devoted family man and well known singer Tom Bell passed away 11 years ago after suffering heart failure.

As a tribute to the loving husband, dad and granddad, his family are holding a special testimonial football match at Parklea Playing Fields on Friday night.

His wife Moira says the match is a way to thank friends and family who have helped to raise thousands of pounds for good causes over the years as a tribute to Tom.

One of the teams – ‘Tom’s Legends’ – will be made up of his family and friends, with their opponents dubbed ‘The Rest of the World’.

His grandsons Morgan, 13, Lewis, 11 and Logan, eight, will also be involved in the event, with Morgan and Lewis having a chance to play.

The following night, there will be a presentation of medals at Port Glasgow Bowling Club.

At the event, Moira’s son Alan Bell will be performing with his band ‘No Contract’.

Moira is keen to thank everyone for their support, especially her daughter Kirsty and son Alan.

Special thanks also go to Ian Dyer at Inverclyde Leisure and Provost Robert Moran for their support. Everyone is welcome to attend both the testimonial football match on Friday at 7pm and the medal presentation the following night at 8pm at the bowling club.
