A PORT Glasgow man had his face slashed as he answered his front door early this morning.

The 42-year-old victim is understood to have received a ‘number’ of stitches to a laceration to one of his cheeks following the 12.30am incident.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff, of Greenock CID, said: “The man heard his door buzzing and as he went to answer it he was slashed in the face.

“The assailant is described as white, of stocky build, in his 40s with long hair in a pony tail and he was wearing dark clothing.”

The assault took place at a property in the Port’s Auchenbothie Road.
Asked if it had been a targeted incident, DI Wagstaff replied: “It appears to be, yes.”

He added: “There were a number of people in the house at the time and inquiries remain ongoing at this stage.

“I would urge anyone who knows something about this incident to contact us on the 101 number.”
