A NURSERY teacher from Port Glasgow has raised nearly £300 from a fundraising kickboxing fight.

Gibshill Children’s Centre deputy head, Craig Scott, 35, stepped into the ring last Friday for the ‘Stand Up Stand Out’ event in aid of charity Brightest Star, which helps parents dealing with the loss of a child.

It was organised by Robert McCallum Kickboxing in Renfrew and followed an eight-week intensive training programme.

Craig took on experienced local fighter Willie Currie and although he lost the bout, he exceeded his sponsorship target and helped raise £266 for the charity and says he loved taking part.

He said: “The fight went okay. I lost but it was a great experience.”

Craig would like to thank everyone who donated money, raffle prizes and bought tickets to the fight night.
