TWO hard-working school pupils have received the world’s leading youth achievement award.
Lewis Crighton and Chloe McMillan from Craigmarloch School were thrilled to receive their Duke of Edinburgh bronze awards at a ceremony in Greenock Town Hall.
The determined duo, head girl and head boy at the school, were recognised for their outstanding efforts during a trip at the Everton Scout Campsite in Inverkip.
Chloe, 18, told the Tele: “I had never camped outside before and I really enjoyed it.”
Lewis, 17, added: “We did a lot of walking as well and it was good fun.”
George Walker, head teacher at Craigmarloch, says the entire school is proud of Chloe and Lewis.
He said: “As head boy and head girl they have set a very good example for the rest of the school.
“They have shown that hard work and commitment pays off and that you get the recognition you deserve.
“In addition the Duke of Edinburgh awards gave them a lot of confidence and we saw that when they laid a wreath at the Port Glasgow war memorial for Remembrance Sunday.”
