BUS services in Port Glasgow will be top of the agenda at a residents’ meeting on Monday.

A representative from McGill’s has been invited along to the Port Glasgow West Community Council meeting at Port Glasgow Town Hall.

It follows concerns about capacity on the bus to Braehead and services from the Port to Inverclyde Royal.

Members also hope to lobby the company to change a service following the cancellation of the Broadfield Circular.

Community council secretary Tommy Rodger says the meeting is a chance for passengers to raise points of view.

Mr Rodger said: “There are a few issues we wish to discuss.

“I have had reports that Glasgow/Braehead buses turn up at Port Glasgow full.

“Other complaints include Inverclyde Royal buses not turning up at Port Glasgow bus stops and the time of the last bus leaving Inverclyde Royal, which means that visitors have to leave early.

“We would also like to discuss the possibility of a re-routed service to compensate for the Broadfield Circular being cancelled.

“We would like to encourage community readers to attend with their own concerns.”

The bus company says it will be represented at the meeting to listen to what residents have to say.

A spokesperson said: “McGill’s will be more than happy to attend the community council meeting as it’s a great opportunity to listen to our customers.

“We will comment further once we have fully heard what the community council has to say, and have had a chance to look into the points raised.”

Monday’s meeting starts at 7.30pm.
