A PORT nursing home welcomed visitors to meet residents and staff as it held an annual open day.

Newark Care Home recently welcomed neighbours and loved ones and friends of residents to see what life is like at the establishment.

They also had visitors from Kilmacolm and youngsters from the Port iYouth Zone, who chatted to some of the residents and found out more about the work done at the home.

Guests also enjoyed a tasty strawberry tea.

Manager Moira Roberts was delighted with how the event went.

She told the Tele she found herself taking visitors on tours so they could see the facilities and the refurbishment work carried out.

Moira said: “The visitors were really interested in the care home and I ended up taking two tours as more people arrived.

“They met with staff and some of the residents and were so positive about the whole day.

“It was really successful, everyone had a lovely day and seemed to enjoy themselves.

“The turnout was much better than even we had hoped and people chatted, enjoyed the food and created a lovely buzz about the home.

“Someone described it as a hidden gem which was lovely.”

Moira would like to thank everyone who made it along to the open day and helped to make it special, including the girls from iYouth Zone who spent time with the residents.
