A GROUP of Port Glasgow mums and their daughters became 'soap stars' in aid of a charity cause close to their hearts.

Tracy Fay joined her three pals and their daughters for a different 'girls day out' as they negotiated a sea of frothy foam at the Bubble Rush 5k event in Glasgow.

The girls managed to collect over £800 for Ardgowan through their fundraising efforts.

Speaking to the Tele, Tracy, 38, said the cause is very close to all of their hearts.

She said: "We all have links to the hospice.

"My nana Mary Lennon was supported by the hospice before she sadly passed away.

"The staff were brilliant and I can still remember all the wee things they did to help us.

"I also volunteered at the hospice for six months when I was about 15 and it was an amazing, fulfilling experience."

Tracy, who lives in Gourock's Finnie Terrace, completed the Bubble Rush alongside her daughters Aria, two, and Mirrin, six.

She was also joined by Lynne Convery, 37, and her daughters Erin, 14, and Ellie Dunn, 10, as well as Siobhan Green, 37, her daughter Maria, seven, and Nicola Campbell, 36, and her daughter Grace, two.

Tracy, who grew up with her friends in Port Glasgow, says they were all overwhelmed by the response to their fundraising efforts.

She added: "We have raised over £800 so far, with more coming in.

"We're absolutely overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity."

This is not the first time that Tracy has raised money for the hospice as in October last year she organised a charity Hallowe'en night which raised £500 for the charity.

She also donated £500 each to The Gurkha Welfare Trust and Poppy Scotland.
