A GRIEVING Port Glasgow woman blames drug pushers for the tragic death of her 17-year-old granddaughter.
Heartbroken Elizabeth Speirs says she hopes whoever gave Allana Carr the substance that killed her ‘will suffer’ as much as her family, who are struggling to cope with their agonising loss.
Elizabeth, 53, is still in shock after Allana died following a drugs-related incident in a house in Inverkip
earlier on this month.
The family bid an emotional final farewell to the teenager at her funeral in the Holy Family Church in Port Glasgow on Tuesday.
Her gran said: “I hope whoever gave Allana these drugs will suffer. Someone gave this stuff to her and she’s been led astray at a party.
“I just started screaming when I got the call. I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. I didn’t expect to be burying one of my grandweans.”
Allana was found dead at a house in Bridgend around 2.30pm on Sunday 8 August. Elizabeth, of Oronsay Avenue, Port Glasgow, who saw Allana only hours before she died, paid tribute to her first-born grandchild.
She said: “She was a loving, outgoing girl. She always wanted to sing and dance.
“I saw her the Saturday night before she died. She was down at her grandad’s house in Greenock.
“She was just her normal self and talking about college. She gave me a kiss and said she loved me.”
The teenager, who lived between her mum and dad’s houses in Greenock, had just started a course through the Princes’ Trust at James Watt College.
Both parents are finding it very hard to cope with their loss, as are her brothers Ian and Michael and her sister Kelsi.
Her mum Rose, 47, was too upset to speak about the tragedy at her home in South Street, while her dad James is also distraught.
Elizabeth said: “My son is not coping with this well at all. We’re all devastated.”
