LABOUR leader Ed Miliband held a meeting with invited guests in Port Glasgow and stressed his opposition to independence.

His visit to Boglestone Community Centre was welcomed by Inverclyde MP Iain McKenzie, who was in attendance with party supporters and Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont MSP.

They were joined by Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Margaret Curran MP, and Scottish Labour deputy leader and referendum spokesperson, Anas Sarwar MP.

Mr McKenzie said: “Alongside my colleague, Duncan McNeil MSP, it was a pleasure to welcome Ed and Johann as they spoke passionately about Labour’s vision for the future of the United Kingdom.

“It is now clear that the only progressive option for those who live and work in Inverclyde is to say no thanks to independence in September and yes to a UK and Scottish Labour government in 2015 and 2016.”
