A FORMER Tele Teen Idol winner is bidding to win not one but TWO beauty contests on Sunday.

Kerry McLeod has entered the events in Manchester — and success could take her on to another contest in Japan.

The 20-year-old student, from Port Glasgow, said she is “very excited” to be involved in the prestigious competitions.

Kerry topped our Teen Idol 16 to 19-year-old category in 2011, winning clothing vouchers and an exclusive photoshoot and portfolio of pictures.

She said at the time: “I would love the chance to be a successful model like Kate Moss.

“I love fashion and I’m really excited about the portfolio.” Kerry is now taking part in the Miss International UK and Miss Intercontinental UK pageants at the Manchester Palace Hotel.

The former St Stephen’s High pupil lives with her mum Karen in Cardross Avenue and is studying nutrition and dietetics at Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University with the aim of becoming a dietician.

Kerry said: “I sent pictures to the event organisers and my entries were accepted.

“I can’t wait to take part. I’ve never done anything like this before, so it’s a bit daunting, but I’m looking forward to it.

“I have to parade in a bikini as well as evening and fashion wear!” Kerry is listed on the events’ website as ‘Miss Inverclyde International’.

Winning the Miss International UK title would gain her entry into Miss International Japan, being hosted in Tala Bay at the end of the year.

She is sponsored by Inverclyde businesses Coco and Claude, Straps and Bespoke Hair and Beauty.

Kerry added: “I’m really looking forward to Sunday.

“It’s going to be a fantastic experience.”
