POLICE are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found within a property in Port Glasgow.

The grim discovery was made at 8.30pm last night in Clune Park Street.

The street was immediately sealed off, with several police officers, vehicles and an ambulance all in attendance.

A close has been cordoned off with police tape and officers are standing at the entrance to it.

Other officers were also standing guard at the back court of the building.

This morning, a spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that the body of an as yet unidentified person has been found within a property in Clune Park Street, Port Glasgow at around 8.30pm last night.

“A post-mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

“However the death is being treated as suspicious at this time and enquiries are continuing.” This morning there was still a heavy police presence at the scene as investigations continue.
