IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas — especially in one Inverclyde street.

The Murray family are celebrating the forthcoming festive season in spectacular style by decking out their house with a dazzling light display.

Their Berwick Road home has been transformed into a winter wonderland lighting up the night skies over Larkfield.

James Murray, 48, said: “We like to celebrate Christmas.

“We’ve got a big family of five, it’s a way of cheering up the house and a lot of folk stop to look at it.

“It’s a happy time for us.

“It’s a time to rejoice and we reflect that in a nice display.

“We’ve had postcards through the door commenting on the display.

“Even the police have gone by and taken pictures and all our neighbours love it.

“We’ve been doing this every year and we’ve been here for 15 years — it seems to get bigger and bigger.” The security consultant is married to Sharon, 38, and the couple live with their children Connor, 21, Owen, 18, Jay Jay, 16, Elle, 10, and three-year-old McKenzie.

The family were one of the first in the district to put up their decorations, with the grand switch on last Friday.

James says there are over 10,000 bulbs in his stunning display using high-powered lights, costing up to £10 a day in electricity.

When asked if he wished it was Christmas every day, the dad quipped: “Yes and no — I’d need to get two jobs if it was Christmas every day!

His daughter Elle said: “I love the lights, I bring all my friends round to see them.

The Murrays are well prepared for Santa coming, with the younger members of the clan already penning their Christmas must-haves.

James said: “It’s called the Argos book!”
