Boo Seng Khoo preyed on two girls over a period spanning eight years between 2003 and 2011 before his appalling crimes were discovered.

The 61-year-old — who formerly worked from the Port’s David Wyse practice on King Street — was found guilty following a trial before a jury.

Seng Khoo first targeted a four-year-old in a ‘lewd and libidinous’ way in June 2003.

He also sexually abused her on a number of occasions after she had turned 11 — between December 2010 and June 2011.

The Malaysian-born abuser also preyed on another girl between July 2003 and July 2008.

Both schoolgirls — who cannot be identified — were in the company of the vile offender at his home when he committed his disgusting crimes.

Seng Khoo was yesterday jailed for three years and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

He forced a trial after denying a total of three indictment charges against him.

A jury at Glasgow Sheriff Court, pictured, found him guilty earlier this month and Seng Khoo was immediately remanded in custody by Sheriff Alan McKenzie ahead of yesterday’s sentencing hearing.

The Telegraph can further reveal today that the paedophile — a previously respected figure in the local area — has been suspended by the General Optical Council (GOC) following a closed-doors fitness to practise hearing.

Seng Khoo was barred by a GOC committee for 12 months in June.

The order is due to be reviewed before the end of the year and it is expected that the shamed optician will subsequently be struck off.
