A WOMAN who claimed £3,500 in benefits she wasn"t entitled to has been ordered to pay them back.

Alison McCafferty, 37, accepted housing and council tax benefit over a four-year period without disclosing income she received from a job with the NHS.

McCafferty, of Berwick Road, Greenock, was caught out in November last year.

Yesterday, she admitted the fraud at the sheriff court.

Her solicitor, Fiona Cook, admitted: 'She is at the very early stage of repayment.'

Sheriff Vincent Canavan deferred sentence for six months to see how she progressed with the repayments.
