PORT Glasgow Juniors triumphed on Saturday to gain promotion - and today there are renewed calls for them to get their own ground.
Councillor David Wilson, of Port Glasgow, also said the team should get a civic reception after beating Dunipace 3-0 at Ravenscraig, the ground they have been forced to share with Greenock Juniors since Inverclyde Council ended their lease at Woodhall eight years ago.
The council wanted to use the ground for industrial development.
Councillor Wilson said: 'I had the pleasure of watching the Port Juniors gaining promotion to the West of Scotland League. Their joy was what you would expect from players and officials who have had to battle without their own ground for so long.
'It is time they had their own ground - and I will also be asking if a council recognition of the team"s achievement can be organised.'
