VOLUNTARY groups in Inverclyde have a fortnight to grab their share of a £60,000 grants fund.

Council chiefs are reminding community organisations that time is running out for them to bid for a slice of the funding.

Over £150,000 has already been shelled out to a whole host of good causes in the current financial year and noon on Monday 20 February is the deadline for applications.

Councillor Jim Clocherty said: "This money for discretionary grants is on top of more than half a million pounds we have made in commissioned awards to a wide variety of groups for the next three years.

"This final round of bids will be a lifeline for some of the groups who perhaps missed out on previous funding opportunities and I would urge them to get their bids into us in plenty of time."
