Man charged with robbing elderly couple

A MAN will appear in court on Monday charged with robbing an elderly couple in Greenock.
It is alleged the 20-year-old approached them in Bank Street at 8.30 on Tuesday night, threatened them with a blunt implement, grabbed the woman's handbag and ran off.
The elderly man suffered a slight hand injury when he tried to intervene, but did not need medical treatment.
Both the man and woman are in their 60s.
The handbag contained personal items and a small amount of money.
