HUNDREDS of Inverclyde businesses visited a free advice session designed to give them a boost.

It was held in Greenock Town Hall and organised by Inverclyde Council, The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Skills Development Scotland.

Among the stand holders were Inverclyde Council’s Business Store and Business Gateway, Skills Development Scotland, FSB, Supplier Development Programme, Business Sorted, Campbell Smith Insurance Services, Blue Jay Office Services and Pension Led Business Funding.

Inverclyde’s regeneration vice convener, Councillor Jim Clocherty, told the Tele that the council works hand in hand with a range of partners to make sure that local firms are able to tap into advice, information and financial assistance.

He added: “One of the areas of particular importance is making sure local businesses are ready and able to apply for public sector contracts.” Inverclyde FSB chairman, Alan Lyall, said the advice event was very successful.

He added: “It went so well that we will probably have another one in the spring.”
