DETECTIVES investigating an attempted murder in Greenock are appealing for a potential witness to come forward.

A 34-year-old man was rushed to Inverclyde Royal after he was deliberately struck by a vehicle in Leitch Street around 6.15pm last Monday.

The victim has since been released from hospital but police enquiries remain ongoing.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff of Greenock CID says a woman who was near the crime scene at the time may have vital information.

He said: “We are keen to talk to a potential witness who was parked or driving a grey coloured Ford EcoSport car in Leitch Street.

“She is described as being in her late 30s or early 40s and we think she may hold critical information, so we’re appealing for her to phone police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
