THE attack is the second time a Glasgow school has been at the centre of a shooting.

In September 2015, Ross Sherlock was shot at several times outside St Helen’s Primary School in Bishopbriggs as he arrived to pick up his daughter.

The trial for the alleged murder bid on Mr Sherlock was halted at the High Court, in Glasgow yesterday.

William Burns, 56, and Alexander Porter, 48, both from Paisley, deny attempting to murder Sherlock by shooting at him repeatedly.

The pair also deny assaulting the Scottish Sun investigations editor Russell Findlay to the danger of his life by throwing sulphuric acid on his face at his West End home on December 23, 2015.

The trial was halted because of what judge Sean Murphy QC described as “insurmountable difficulties.”

Judge Murphy told the jury: “The difficulties have not been resolved and I have been asked to put off the trial until they are resolved. This type of difficulty does arise and we can’t proceed at present.”

A new trial has been set for June.

Police Scotland are also still hunting the killer of Maryhill man Euan Johnstone who was gunned down in November as he sat in his car at traffic lights on Shields Road.

Known as EJ, the 26-year-old was in a black Audi RS4 when his killer drove up beside him in a dark-coloured Audi Q5 and delivered the fatal blow.

The gunman then sped off in his car and was last seen heading for the M8 motorway. Emergency services rushed to the scene but Euan died in hospital.
