ALMOST £10,000 has been raised by a Celtic fan group to buy a one-off tifo display to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions winning the European Cup.

The Green Brigade have called on the Celtic support to donate to their Go Fund Me page which has been running for just under two weeks.

They want to raise £15,000 to have a full stadium display on the day Brendan Rodgers’ side are expected to be presented with the Premiership trophy at Celtic Park.

Parkhead legend Jock Stein’s side sealed their place in the history books by becoming the first British team to lift the European Cup on May, 25 1967 in Lisbon.

A Green Brigade spokesman said: “The Green Brigade launch a fan project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Celtic’s greatest achievement.

“Not forgetting the current team, we will mark our modern-day record-breakers’ League Title presentation fixture with a full-stadium tifo in commemoration of Lisbon 1967.”

The statement continued: “For the landmark anniversary approaching we will pull off another full stadium spectacle.

“The Green Brigade will forever be indebted to the Celtic support for your financial backing, endorsing of our efforts and ideas, and general moral support.

“Once again, we ask the Celtic support to prove why – just like the Lisbon Lions – we are world renowned.”

The Green Brigade have lead supporters to hold a 67th minute tribute to the Lisbon Lions during home games this season.

The club have previously confirmed a week-long celebrations would feature a legend’s charity match starring Henrik Larsson and Lubomir Moravcik on May 28.
