THE family of murdered schoolgirl Paige Doherty will be taking part in this year’s Great Scottish Run in memory of the teenager – with her one-year-old brother set to take part in a 100 metre dash.

The 15-year-old’s mother, Pamela Munro, revealed the family will be running the 10.5k race for a second time in October to raise money for Paige’s Promise.

The charity was set up to provide self-defence classes and also aims to help families in the aftermath of a tragedy.

Pamela also said her one-year-old son, Lucas will be taking part in the “toddler dash” to raise money towards the charity – set up in his sister’s honour.

Paige’s other siblings, 11-year-old brother, Andrew, will be running 2.5K along with five-year-old Peyton, who will be taking part in a one-mile run.

Writing on the Pout for Paige Facebook group last month, Pamela, 33, urged others to join her.

She said: “We have a good group all doing the Great Scottish Run, 10k, 1st October for Paige’s Promise.

“Anyone want to be a part of Team Paige and run in her memory while raising money for a great cause then please join us.” It’s £27 sign-up fee and can be done online. There’s also a toddler dash that’s free for anyone with kids under fives and my five-year-old is doing the 1 mile run £8.

“My eleven-year-old is doing the 2.5 k which is £8 also. Let’s make this year as big as possible in Paige’s name.”

Paige went missing on Saturday, March 19, 2015 after leaving a sleepover at a friend’s home in Glasgow. She was on her way to collect her wages from her part-time job as a hairdresser when she went missing.

John Leathem pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 27 years in prison for brutallystabbing Paige and dumping her body in bushes.

The youngster was left with nearly 150 injuries, including 61 stab wounds, when the father-of-two attacked her with a knife at his deli in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.
