A STUNNED motorist had to do an emergency stop after these adorable baby weasels popped up in the middle of the road.

Brian Denoon and Carrie Urquhart were driving along the single track road when they came across four tiny kits relaxing in the sunshine.

Carrie hopped out of the car with her camera to capture the moment, but two of baby weasels darted into bushes at the side of the road

But the other pair froze and seemed happy to pose for the stunning picture in Achilibuie, Scottish Highlands.

She then picked-up the hand-sized kits and put them into the bushes to rejoin the family.

Carrie, 19, from Ullapool, said: "Well we were just driving and saw them on the road and we stopped.

"I just got out of the truck and took a picture and moved them off the road. They were making a lot of noise even though I picked them up gently.

"I like animals and if they are needing help then I would always help or pick them up. They were really small like the length of my hand.

"They looked cute even though they were the same length as a pen.

"I didn't want them to get hurt by the other cars. After that, we just drove off."

Brian, 52, added: "I think they were just very naive to what is danger so they must have just froze. They always venture out during this season."

Brian and Carrie work for Lochbroom Woodfuels - a community-owned organisation that supplies wood to personal households.
