A SINGING schoolboy proved he has ‘Scot’ what it takes to make it to the top after finishing third in a national competition.

Nine-year-old Christopher Todd picked up third place in the P4/5 singing category at the recent National Burns Schools competition in Edinburgh.

The talented Kilmacolm Primary pupil said he was thrilled to lift the prize after performing the song ‘the deil’s awa’.

He told the Tele: “I feel very happy.

“I practised a lot before the competition so it was nice to do so well.

“I didn’t realise my teacher Mrs Taylor was in the audience, but she told me when I went back to school.

“I’m glad I missed her as that might have brought on a few nerves!”
Christopher’s achievement has drawn praise from Inverclyde Music Festival president Isabel Lind.

She said: “It’s phenomenal that Christopher achieved third in the whole of  Scotland in what is a very prestigious competition.

“In his age group there were 25 children singing from 13 different districts across Scotland, so that shows how well he has done.”

As well as singing, Christopher also has a keen interest in the film industry.

He said: “I want to be a film director when I’m older.

“My favourite films are the Harry Potter ones.”
