KILMACOLM Primary pupils are getting in-depth insight into the rebuilding of their school.

Youngsters have opened up the classroom to designers, managers and construction workers who are coming together to work on the project.

As part of the £4.2 million development, HubWest Scotland have devised a programme for the children so that they can learn some of the related skills through fun activities.

Pupils, above, have had a go at designing towers, bridge building and other tasks during the Building Challenge Day.

Head teacher Simone McCredie said: “It was a great event and the children were all fully engaged in the challenges.

“It was fantastic to see the children using their problem solving and team work skills in action.

“Thank you to the team from Hub West, CBC and Inverclyde Council for making the day as close to ‘real life’ as possible.

“The children now have a better understanding of all the work that is going on with the refurbishment of their school.”

HubWest Scotland community benefits manager Lindsey McNaughtan added: “It was fantastic to see the children getting involved and learning about the construction industry.”
