CO-OP staff in Kilmacolm brought the seaside to the shopfloor and raised £200 for local children.
Workers at the Lochwinnoch Road store held a special beach event in aid of the village playscheme, which is being held in the nearby community centre.
Staff took kind donations from customers and also held a raffle and tombola.
Among those making a contribution was former Inverclyde councillor Helen Calvert. The money will be used to pay for the youngsters to go on a trip to Funworld in Greenock.
A store spokesperson said: “The team at Co-op Kilmacolm dressed in their summer finest to host a beach party at our little shop with a tombola and raffle to raise funds for the kids at the Kilmacolm playscheme.
“We are now able to make a healthy donation of £200 towards their summer trip.
“Thanks to all our customers for their kindness and generosity – you’ve made a lot of kids very happy.”
Susan McArthur, who is a caretaker at the community centre, praised the Co-op staff for their thoughtful gesture.
She said: “It’s a nice touch.”
The playscheme children also had a book sale and raised £53 towards their outing.
