A ‘PURR-FECT’ panto featuring a young man and his cat on an exciting quest for fame and fortune will captivate audiences this week.

Kilmacolm Dramatic Society take to the stage for their spectacular three night production of ‘Dick Whittington’ at Kidston Hall in Kilmacolm from tomorrow.
Director Mandy Robinson says the show will delight people of all ages.

She said: “Unlike most pantomimes this story is based on a real-life 14th century character who became mayor of London.

“It has been very satisfying to work on this fun vibrant script by Bradford and Webster, with the help of so many people who have come together to make this show possible.”

The show’s cast includes Terry Ferguson, who plays Tom the Cat, Audrey Hunter as Queen Rat, Kevin Curran, who plays Dick Whittington, and Stephanie Money who will appear as Alice Fritzwarren.

Also appearing in the performance are John Gilchrist as Sarah the Cook and Anne Crawley as her idle son Jack.

Mandy says that the cast and crew have put in a power of work for the past five months.

She added: “I am indebted once more to Phil and Matthew from PSA productions for their help and expertise with the lighting and making the animations possible, Helen Calvert for her magic with costumes, Rosie Thirde for doing props and Julie Gibb for putting together the choreography as well as Linda, Gill and Glen for their help backstage and John and Eileen — our front of house managers.”

Mandy says the show would also not be possible without the support of her husband Joe, who not only designed and painted the backdrops and projections but also arranged the music.

She said: “I could not have done this show without him.

“I also want to thank the members of the band for enabling us to have live entertainment and my lovely cast who from day one have set about this production with such fun and enthusiasm.

“Last but by no means least, I want to thank the audience for their continued support which makes this all possible.”

The show is on for three nights from Thursday at 7.30pm and includes a Saturday matinee performance at 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Cross Cafe in Kilmacolm or via Rosie Thirde on 01505 873088.
