MISSING Inverkip woman Margaret Fleming was last seen 17 years ago today.

Police investigating the disappearance of the 36-year-old have made another appeal to the public to establish her movements from when she last sighted in 1999.

Margaret was reported missing by her two carers at her home in Main Road, Inverkip, at around 5.20pm on Friday, October 28.

They now want to establish her movements from the last indepedent sighting of her on Saturday, December 17.

Their latest appeal comes exactly 17 years to the day since that sighting of her in 1999.

Police Scotland say that specialist search teams have been carefully searching her house and garden.

They hope to find any documentation, clothing or personal items that could assist in finding her.

Police officers also continue to search and make enquiries in the wider Inverclyde area.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Livingstone, senior investigating officer on the case, said: “Today, Saturday, December 17, marks 17 years to the day that Margaret was seen at a family gathering.

“This is the only independent sighting we have of Margaret so far, and I would like to re-appeal to people in the local community of Inverkip and beyond for their help with our enquiries.”

He added: “A priority for the inquiry team is to establish Margaret’s movements and lifestyle between 1999 and when she was reported missing on Friday, October 28 by her carers.

“We have had an encouraging response to our previous appeals and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to come forward with information.

“If Margaret is reading this, I would ask her to get in touch with police.

“She is not is any trouble, we just want to ensure she is safe and well.”
