TURKEY tasting was one of the fundraising activities on the menu at a Christmas charity event.

The Seaview Café in Wemyss Bay raised £1,150 for Ardgowan Hospice at their wine tasting and Christmas food preview night.

Guests were treated to various varieties of vino, accompanied by tasty bites prepared by Mearns T McCaskie Butchers and Delicatessen.

Nigel Ovens, who owns the café, was thrilled with everyone’s support.
He said: “The hospice is an amazing local cause and this is the third year that we have run this event.

“We have activities such as a turkey tasting competition, a prosecco challenge and a raffle for a fabulous festive hamper.

“We aim to raise around £3,000 every year now for Ardgowan, and in addition to donating carrier bag money, we also want to do a summer BBQ to help us achieve this.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming and also Enotria Wines and Berkmann Wine Cellars for providing the wine on the evening.”

Nigel handed over the bumper cheque to hospice events assistant Amy Shearer.

She said: “Nigel and his staff are fantastic supporters of Ardgowan Hospice.

“It is fabulous when local businesses organise these great events because, without them, we wouldn’t be able to provide such a high level of care for the people of Inverclyde and their families.

“We are so grateful for Nigel’s ongoing support.”
