IT’S last orders for an Inverclyde reality TV star who is quitting booze for three months in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

Self-confessed party animal Tommy MacFarlane, who stars in the hit online Glasgow show ‘Glow’, has decided to stay sober until March 25 as part of the ‘Aff it for Ardgowan’ challenge.

The 25-year-old from Wemyss Bay, who also works as a club promoter in the city centre, says staying off the drink is going to be difficult – but he is determined to succeed as the hospice is a cause close to his heart.

He told the Tele: “This is where both my mum Kay and my gran Margaret Sloan spent their last days.

“They both had cancer and the staff at the hospice were amazing.

“The work that everyone does at Ardgowan is extraordinary and I would love to be able to make a difference.

“I’m raising money by stopping my party lifestyle, which means no alcohol until  March 25 to help raise funds for their cause.”

Tommy, who plays football for Greenock High School Former Pupils, says he will save up the money he would usually spend on drinks and donate it to the charity.

He hopes his alcohol-free regime will also help him get fit again after suffering an on the field injury.

He added: “I’ve had a groin problem for the past three months, so I’m trying to build my fitness back up and this can only help!”

Tommy says his team-mates have been supportive of the new found fame GLOW has brought.

He said: “We went on a night out recently and they couldn’t believe the attention I was getting from girls who were asking for pictures.

“Glow has been amazing and my life has changed massively.

“When I’m out working as a club promoter people stop me for photos now – it’s mad.

“But I’m keeping my feet on the ground.

“I’m still the same person.”

Elaine McNeill, who is the community development manager at Ardgowan Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Tommy has taken on the challenge to give up alcohol in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

“Hopefully it will encourage others to sign up too.”
