FIESTY females are dancing their way to a healthier and happier lifestyle by signing up a ‘flirtatious and fun’ fitness class.

Brightly-coloured feather boas lit up Kilmacolm Community Centre as women got into BurleX Fitness — a specially designed class which improves core strength and flexibility whilst indulging the thrill and adventure of Burlesque-styled dance.

Kelly Rix, who leads the ‘Belle’s of BurleX’ class at the community centre, says her main aim is to empower women.

She said: “I like to see something special in each person and I try to bring that out in them.

“To see them growing in confidence is great and it lets them see the special person that I can see.

“For me it’s about how they feel as a person inside.”

Member Gill King says she loves taking part.

She told the Tele: “In the space of two weeks I have lost about three inches round my waist, which is amazing.

“I love the sessions because they are fun and it’s a full body workout.

“You don’t realise how hard you’re working because it’s such good fun.”

Fiona Hewitt is also a fan of the glam workout class.

She said: “It’s a fun way to keep active.

“I also like the music, it brings something different to exercising.”

The class takes place at Kilmacolm Community Centre from 9.30am every Friday morning. For more information, go to the ‘Belle’s of BurleX’ Facebook page.
