A ‘CHEEKY’ film by a Kilmacolm actor showing how to wear a plaid in true Scottish fashion has gone viral across the globe with 140,000 hits.

Andy McAlindon, who spent months in the filming for cult TV show Outlander, has been blown away by the success of his super successful online tutorial.

The dad-of-three started off showing his bare legs as he began to address his audience on the proper way to wear 18th century attire.

He finished it all off with a quick flash from behind, proving that he was indeed a true Scotsman.

Andy said: “I filmed it in one go with no rehearsals!
“I think the last part was pretty popular.

“The number of people watching it just keeps going up and up, I have had about 100 friends requests every day.

“People are desperate to know how to put on a plaid the right way so I decided to make this film. It is great fun.”

Landing a part as an extra in Outlander opened doors for Andy.

Since then he has appeared in a string of hits, including In Plain Sight with Greenock actor Martin Compston.

But the 39-year-old has fallen in love with the Battle of Culloden and the tragic story of the Jacobites.

He said: “Outlander really has changed my life. I was so passionate about it I bought a full Jacobite costume.

“I loved filming all the battle scenes.

Andy now has the full Scottish dress, the five yard plaid, dirk, basket hilt sword and baldric.

He is involved in a group with friends from the series and they have created their own act.

They are now asked to make special appearances at charity events and hope to make their own film.

Busy Andy is also set to take part in the upcoming Kiltwalk in full ‘fighting Highlanders dress’ to raise money to send a six-year-old girl from to America for a life-changing operation.

He will be taking part in the walk on Sunday April 30.
