PENSIONERS had a tea-mendous time at a party in Wemyss Bay.

The kettle was switched on for the tea party which was organised by kind volunteers from Contact the Elderly.

Barry McGugan, a volunteer with the group who co-ordinate the parties, said it was a ‘fantastic day’, especially as Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Stuart McMillan popped in for a brew.

He added: “We were delighted to welcome Stuart to our party.

“It is important to raise the profile of what we are doing so more people can be aware of the difference these tea parties are making to older people’s lives throughout Scotland

“We all had a really enjoyable afternoon as ever.”

Mr McMillan said he was delighted to support such a fantastic event.

He said: “Contact the Elderly is an excellent concept led by volunteers and a fantastic charity organisation.”
