FORMER Scotland football star Steven Pressley passed on some tricks of the trade to local schoolchildren.

The ex-defender was a surprise coach for the day at a Lidl Skill Centre training session at St Columba’s in Kilmacolm.

The retired footballer said he was more than impressed with the talent on display from the boys and girls.

The former Hearts skipper said: “It was a pleasure to take the session and the talent displayed by youngsters suggests that the centres are already developing some of the stars of tomorrow.”

The central defender who played for Rangers, Celtic and Hearts put the youngsters through their paces as part of the SFA initiative.

Working together, sponsors Lidl and the Scottish FA aim to grow the number of players taking part in the Skills Centre programme.

They also hope to increase the number of girls taking part in the game.
