A HARD-working school pupil has been chosen to represent Scotland during a visit to the European Parliament.
Alexis Spragg, who is a senior pupil at St Columba’s High School in Kilmacolm, has been selected to represent the country in the Euroscola project next year.
Euroscola is a project which involves rotary clubs sponsoring a pupil, who is proficient in French, to join a group of school students from across the continent on a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Alexis said: “I am grateful to the local rotary club for such a fantastic opportunity particularly.
“A I plan to study international business at university next year it will be incredibly beneficial to me.”
Mick McLaughlin, who is depute rector at the school, said it is a great opportunity for Alexis.
He said: “We are delighted that she has been selected to take part in the Euroscola Project next year.
“We have established an important tradition at St Columba’s of taking part in Euroscola, and Alexis’s efforts to put together a strong candidacy impressed the panel from the Rotary Club of Gryffe Valley.”
Students are invited to become a Member of the European Parliament for one day and take the floor in plenary and committee sessions to debate and vote on resolutions on current affairs while practising their language skills.
