CENTRE STAGE: Ruairidh and friends hand over the cheque to the hospice's Sarah Nottingham, second right.
BUDDING thespians raised more than the curtain at their production of Sleeping Beauty - by collecting more than £1,200 for Ardgowan Hospice.
Inspired by his mum to raise money for the local charity, teenager Ruairidh Forde started holding a show three years ago.
And it has proved such a hit with theatre-goers, the show has become a favourite fixture in the festive calendar.
Ruairidh and fellow panto pals, who attend Inverclyde schools, staged the show at Westburn Church in Greenock, attracting an audience of 250 people over the two nights.
The am-dram fanatics put on the show on a shoestring to make sure every penny made went to the hospice.
The cast paid for their own costumes and whatever they couldn't buy, they borrowed from James Watt College, while mums and dads did their bit by selling refreshments on the night.
Ruairidh said: "This year was easier as we knew better what we were doing!
"We are definitely wanting to put on a show again next year, as it might be the last time we can do it before we all finish school."
